Choosing Online Computer Career Training 2009

February 24th, 2009
by Jason Kendall

What might you expect the most superior Microsoft accredited suppliers to provide a trainee in the UK today? Obviously, the most supreme Gold Partner Microsoft accredited programs, presenting a selection of courses to take you into a selection of professions with IT. Perhaps you’d like to talk to industry experts, who can give you some ideas on what sort of job would suit you, and the kind of tasks that are suitable for somebody with your character and ability. Training programs should be put together to match your current skills and aptitude. Consequently, after working out the right IT job for you, your next requirement is the most suitable program that will equip you for the role.

The world of information technology is amongst the most stimulating and innovative industries you could be involved with. Being a member of a team working on breakthroughs in technology is to do your bit in the gigantic changes affecting everyone who lives in the 21st century. We’re only just starting to get a feel for how technology will affect our lives in the future. Computers and the web will massively alter how we regard and interrelate with the rest of the world over the years to come.

The regular IT technician in the UK is likely to receive considerably more money than employees on a par in another industry. Mean average incomes are around the top of national league tables. There is a great nationwide requirement for professionally qualified IT workers. In addition, with the marketplace continuing to expand, it appears this will be the case for the significant future.

It’s indisputable, the computer industry promises marvellous opportunities. But, to investigate fully, what questions do we need to be posing, and what are the sectors we need to investigate?

Many companies focus completely on the certification process, and avoid focusing on the reasons for getting there – getting yourself a new job or career. Always begin with the end in mind – don’t get hung-up on the training vehicle. Imagine training for just one year and then end up doing the job for 20 years. Avoid the mistake of opting for what may seem to be a program of interest to you only to waste your life away with a job you hate!

Stay tuned-in to what it is you’re trying to achieve, and then build your training requirements around that – not the other way round. Keep your eyes on your goals and ensure that you’re training for something that will keep you happy for many years. You’d also need help from an experienced person who can explain the market you think may suit you, and is able to give you ‘A day in the life of’ explanation for each job considered. This really is essential because you need to know if this change is right for you.

Students who consider this area of study often have a very practical outlook on work, and won’t enjoy sitting at a desk in class, and struggling through thick study-volumes. If this is putting you off studying, try the newer style of interactive study, where learning is video-based. We see a huge improvement in memory retention when we use multiple senses – experts have been clear on this for many years.

Study programs now come via DVD-ROM discs, where your computer becomes the centre of your learning. Using video-streaming, you can watch instructors demonstrating how to perform the required skill, followed by your chance to practice – with interactive lab sessions. Always insist on a study material demo’ from the training company. You should ask for expert-led demonstrations, slideshows and interactive labs where you get to practice.

Often, companies will only use purely on-line training; while you can get away with this much of the time, imagine the problems if you lose your internet access or you get a slow connection speed. It’s preferable to have DVD or CD discs that will solve that problem.

One of the most important things to insist on has to be 24×7 round-the-clock support from professional mentors and instructors. Too many companies will only offer a basic 9am till 6pm support period (maybe later on certain days) with very little availability over the weekend. Look for training with proper support available at any time of the day or night (irrespective of whether it’s the wee hours on Sunday morning!) You want access directly to professional tutors, and not access to a call-in service which takes messages – so you’re constantly waiting for a call-back – probably during office hours.

The most successful trainers incorporate three or four individual support centres across multiple time-zones. They use an online interactive interface to provide a seamless experience, no matter what time you login, help is at hand, avoiding all the delays and problems. Never make do with anything less. 24×7 support is the only way to go when it comes to technical training. Perhaps you don’t intend to study during the evenings; often though, we’re working when traditional support if offered.

It’s essential to have authorised exam simulation and preparation programs as part of your course package. Some students can be thrown off course by trying to prepare themselves with questions that aren’t recognised by the authorised examining boards. Sometimes, the question formats and phraseology is unfamiliar and it’s important to prepare yourself for this. A way to build self-confidence is if you test how much you know by doing tests and simulated exams to prepare you for taking the real thing.

Sometimes students assume that the tech college or university system is the way they should go. So why then is commercial certification beginning to overtake it? With a growing demand for specific technological expertise, industry has had to move to specialist courses that the vendors themselves supply – for example companies such as Microsoft, CompTIA, CISCO and Adobe. This usually turns out to involve less time and financial outlay. Essentially, only required knowledge is taught. Actually, it’s not quite as pared down as that, but the principle objective is to cover the precise skills needed (along with a certain amount of crucial background) – without trying to cram in every other area (as academia often does).

Imagine if you were an employer – and your company needed a person with some very particular skills. What’s the simplest way to find the right person: Wade your way through loads of academic qualifications from graduate applicants, asking for course details and which trade skills they have, or choose particular accreditations that perfectly fit your needs, and make your short-list from that. You’ll then be able to concentrate on getting a feel for the person at interview – instead of having to work out if they can do the job.

Be on the lookout that any accreditations you’re working towards will be recognised by employers and are current. The ‘in-house’ certifications provided by many companies are usually worthless. If your certification doesn’t come from a company like Microsoft, CompTIA, Adobe or Cisco, then you’ll probably find it won’t be commercially viable – as it’ll be an unknown commodity.

Microsoft Excel 2007 Text Alignment Options

February 19th, 2009
by Carol Alexander

The alignment section of the Home Tab of the Excel ribbon contains a number of options relating to the way in which your data is position within the cell. Perhaps the most familiar and the most frequently used buttons in this section are the three relating to the horizontal position your data: left, centre and right. However you’ll notice that when you click in the cells of an unformatted worksheet, none of these three icons is highlighted, which indicates that none of them is the default. The reason for this is that Excel treats data differently depending on the data type.

If you type text in a cell, your text is aligned on the left; if you type a number, the number is aligned on the right; if you type a date, it is also aligned on the right. To change the horizontal alignment, either select a range of cells or click on a column letter to highlight the entire column then click on one of the alignment icons.

Haven chosen one type of horizontal alignment, you can change it in two ways. You can either click on a different form of alignment or click again on the already selected alignment. For example, if your text is centred and you click on the Centre button a second time, this deactivates centre alignment and returns you to the default alignment which, for text, is left. Thus we have, effectively, four types of horizontal alignment: left, centre, right and unspecified (or default), which is the alignment that applies when none of the alignment buttons is highlighted.

Microsoft Excel also allows you to specify the vertical alignment of your text. This setting becomes apparent when you increase the height of the cell and there is a definite default; text is normally aligned at the bottom of the cell. This default vertical alignment applies to text, dates and numbers alike.

To set the vertical alignment, either make a selection or click on the row number to select the entire row then click on one of the buttons to make the change: align middle, align top and so forth.

The alignment option also includes the ability to change the orientation of text within the cell. This is particularly useful in those situations where the headings are wider than the data within the cells. To change the vertical orientation of your text, you simply select the cells in question and then choose the appropriate orientation in the Alignment dialogue.

If you rotate your column headings by 90 degrees, you can usually make the columns much narrower. Excel has a very useful way of doing this: simply select all the columns that contain data then in the Cell group of the Home Tab of the Excel Ribbon, choose Format then AutoFit Columns. This command makes each of the highlighted columns no wider than it needs to be in order to display all the data it contains.

Using the SUMIF function in Microsoft Excel

February 18th, 2009
by Carol Alexander

Almost every Exel user has encountered the SUM function. It is one of the most widely used functions of the Excel functions. And most Excel users will also have used the IF function. SUMIF function is a combination of the SUM and If functions which allows us to calculate the total of all cells within a given range that match a certain condition.

For example, let’s say that, in a “Sales” worksheet, we have a breakdown of the sales of each individual salesperson. We then want to create a summary of these figures in a “Branches” worksheet in which we want to create a total sales figure for each branch; so our “Branches” worksheet would have two columns: “Branch” and “Total Sales”. We can use the SUMIF function to calculate the figures in the “Total Sales” column.

A good place to begin would be to create named cells so that we can refer to these names in our formula. To name a range of cells we begin by selecting the range then we click on the name box in the top left of the worksheet, enter the name then press the Enter key.

Once we have inserted the names of all the branches in the first column of our “Branches” worksheet, we would highlight the first cell in the “Total Sales” column, adjacent to the cell containing the name of our first branch; let’s say our first branch is “Birmingham”. When using functions for the first time, it’s always useful to use Excel’s Insert Function facility. To access this, click the Insert Function button on left of the formula bar. The SUMIF function is to be found in the “Math and Trig” category. Scroll down the list, highlight SUMIF and then click OK. Excel will then prompt us for the three arguments required by the SUMIF function.

The first argument is the range of cells that we want to evaluate. In our branch sales example it would be the column containing the names of the branches. If we have named this column, we can insert this name by clicking on “Use In Formula” in the Formulas Tab at the Excel Ribbon. This is a drop-down menu containing all the names in the workbook.

The second argument is the criteria we want to match. In our example, is simply the contents of the cell in the adjacent “Branch” column, which in this case contains “Birmingham”. We can click in the cell to pick up the reference.

The final argument is the SUM range; the column that contains the cells that we want to actually total; namely, the sales figures. Again, if we have named this column, we would click on “Use In Formula” and choose the name. Once we have specified the three arguments, we click OK and Excel creates the formula.

It’s now safe to copy the formula down. The cell reference of the adjacent column containing the branch name will change but the two named ranges will remain the same. To copy the formula down, simply position the cursor on the AutoFill handle in the bottom right of the cell and then either drag or simply double-click.

Tips for Finding The Perfect Notebook

February 17th, 2009

If you’re in the market for a brand new laptop, you’ll definitely want to scout around and find the best computer hardware for your needs. Although laptopsĀ  come in all shapes and sizes, the following tips should guide you well enough to make a smart purchase.

The “tech specs” of your laptop is perhaps the most important consideration. Nothing more, nothing less; exactly what you need to match your activities. For example, you need totally different system if you’re just planning to use it for work purposes, as opposed to letting your notebooks be your entire home entertainment system.

Different applications need different type of notebooks, and getting more than what you need is literally a waste of savings. On the other hand, getting less than what you need will just frustrate you and waste your time.

The first thing you need to consider is the Central Processing Unit or CPU; it is the “brains” of your notebook. Generally speaking a faster CPU is better as it will eliminate a lot of loading and processing time, but there is a choice between Intel processors, or others.

The overall size, weight and dimension of your future laptop is just as important as anything else. If you like to keep it light and portable choose thinner ones that weight less than 1.2kg – these are usually on the higher price range but it will be worth the money, and the lack of back aches!

Equally important is the warranty length, and additional service details. Generally speaking most laptops come with standard one-year warranty, but manufacturers like Sony also include “extended” three-year versions and on-site repairs. If you get this as an option, it means that when your laptop breaks down you get someone come over to repair it at your place. Expect a premium for the “on-site” repairs, but extended warranties are quickly becoming standard items and you should kep your eyes open for laptop models that offer them at no extra cost.

As for personal choice, I prefer Lenovo brand of laptops, especially the Lenovo Thinkpad series that is both affordable and sufficient for high-end processing. Ideally, your future laptop should be able to get you through the next four years before you invest on a new one. Not many laptops live up to that promise though, so shop for your notebook wisely!

Ten Ways To Boost Windows XP

February 12th, 2009
by John Jones

Many people are interested in making the most of their hardware. So here are 10 simple tips on how to make your Windows XP computer run faster without having to purchase additional hardware.

1. Defrag Disk to Speed Up Access to Data – One of the factors that slow the performance of the computer is disk fragmentation. Disk fragmentation really can slow down your computer. Just go to accessories and find a dusty fragments are and let that run. It might take all afternoon, but it should speed up your machine. There are also several paid apps available as well.

2. Detect and Repair Disk Errors – Over time, your hard disk develops bad sectors. Bad sectors can severly hurt disk performance. To detect and repair disk errors, Windows has a built-in tool called the Error Checking utility. It will meticulously search the hard disk for bad sectors and system errors and repair them for better performance.

3. Disable Indexing Services – Indexing Services is a little application that uses a lot of CPU. It’s very annoying. It also doesn’t work as well as Google Desktop for searching your files. Disable it fast and speed up your machine.

4. Optimize Display Settings – Windows XP is a looker. But it costs you system resources that are used to display all the visual items and effects. Windows looks fine if you disable most of the settings and leave only a few necessary bells and whistles. Use a simpler theme or turn off some of the destop effects. Another option is to run fewer programs that are graphically intense.

5. Speedup Folder Browsing – You may have noticed that everytime you open My Computer to browse folders that there is a little delay. To fix this and to increase browsing speed, you can disable the “Automatically search for network folders and printers” option. Most of us don’t have network drives and network printers attach your computer. Anyways. So these options are completely useless.

6. Disable Performance Counters – Windows XP has a performance monitor utility which monitors several areas of your PC’s performance. These utilities take up system resources so disabling is a good idea.

7. Optimize Your Pagefile – You can optimize your pagefile. Setting a fixed size to your pagefile saves the operating system from the need to resize the pagefile. Windows XP sizes the page file to about 1.5X the amount of actual physical memory by default. If you have less than 512MB of memory, leave the page file at its default size. If you have more than 1GB of memory, you probably can set the page file at 512MB or 1GB and that is more than enough.

8. Remove Fonts for Speed – Fonts, especially TrueType fonts, use quite a bit of system resources. For optimal performance, trim your fonts down to just those that you need to use on a daily basis and fonts that applications may require. Unless you are a gfx designer, you shouldn’t need 1,000 fonts. That’s just silly.

9. Use a Flash Memory to Boost Performance – To improve performance, you need to install additional RAM memory. It’ll let you boot your OS much quicker and run many applications and access data quicker. On vista you can use a program called ReadyBoost to do this, on XP programs like eBoost can help. unfortunately, while there is some benefit from what I’ve read, this is not going to give you a huge boost in speed or performance. Built-in RAM is usually going to help more, up to about 2GB, after that you see diminishing returns.

10. Perform a Boot Defragment – There’s a simple way to speed up XP startup: make your system do a boot defragment, which will put all the boot files next to one another on your hard disk. When boot files are in close proximity to one another, your system will start faster. On most systems, boot defragment should be enabled by default, if not, enable it.

I hope this article help you improve your computer’s performance. Even just a little. here’s a bonus tip for you if you browse the web or a lot, you should check out Google’s new browser is the fastest browser currently available and could really speed up your Web applications as well.

Creating Different Formats In The Same Cell In Microsoft Excel

February 9th, 2009
by Carol Alexander

When changing the appearance of text within an Excel worksheet, you have the choice of working on the entire cell or at the text level. To work at the cell level you simply highlight one or more cells and choose your formats. The formats that you choose will then apply to all text within the cell or cells.

For example, to change the font size of your data in Microsoft Excel, you can of course use the drop-down menu next to the font name and choose one of the preset sizes. Another way of changing the size is to use the Grow Fond and Shrink Font buttons located on the right of the font size. These two buttons simply take you up and down the same preset sizes available on the preset size drop-down. You can also use the cursor keys on your keyboard to move through different sizes. Yet another option is to enter a particular size then press the enter key. When doing so, you are permitted to enter decimals, such as 10.5.

In a similar way, when you want to choose a font, you can highlight the current name and start to type the name of font you have in mind, for example Times new Roman. Once you have typed enough to let Excel know which font you mean, the font name will be displayed and you simply press the Enter key.

Colour can be applied in the same two ways in your worksheets, either as a background to the cell or to the text inside the cell. Since background colour applies to the cell itself, it can’t be applied at the text level. With the introduction of Themes in Excel 2007, Microsoft have made it very easy to come up with colour combinations which look good together.

If you wish to work at the text level, you need to be in Edit mode. You can access Edit mode in two ways: the first is to double-click on any cell; the second is to click once on the cell and then click anywhere in the formula bar. You can know when you’re in Edit mode by the presence of the Cancel and Enter buttons on the left of the formula bar.

When working in Edit mode, you can highlight individual characters and change their attributes. For example, if a cell contains the text “Google”, you could highlight each letter individually and change it to the colour used in the Google logo.

The facility of using different formatting within the same cell is very useful for headings. It is not quite so useful for the rest of the data in your worksheets since it slows down data entry and makes editing difficult.

How to Become a VMware Certified Professional

February 6th, 2009
by Scott Heron

What virtualization achieves is simply this; it lets a single PC carry out the job of multiple PC’s by sending onward the resources from a singular computer device over many desktop environments.

Virtualised desktops and servers let the user have many systems and applications hosted together tightly as well as hosted in different positions. This is handy because it removes problems such as geographic limitations.

There are many advantages to installing VMware, benefits such as reducing costs, uses the resources of the hardware to its potential and also it has better security over regular IT infrastructures. With respect to things like disaster recovery, this also greatly improves.

The right choice is in authorized VMware training

Authorised VMware training is only accessible through VMware Authorised Training Centres (VATCs) and through VMware themselves. A few companies are starting to give non-authorised VMware training on VMware Products; VATC training will defiantly give you or your business the greatest results and without doubt grant you the highest return on your investing. IT Training Scotland has teamed up with stellar UK, Interchange ant ETC

How you can benefit from authorised Training:

* authorized VMware esx training is developed by accredited professionals that have already completed the VMware official training program.

* Gain access to dynamic live help & support from VMware themselves, this happens as the training class is being run.

* All the courseware will be official and authorised which is kept up to date on a regular timeframe.

* If you wish to obtain the VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification, only authorised VMware training on VMware Infrastructure 3 achieves the course requirements

How one may become a VCP

Successful delegates will be able to show their virtualisation knowledge and proficiency, will hold all the required detailed skills and an Industry accredited certificate on VMware applied science. Any technical individual can go on the VMware Certified Professional course today.

Two courses are available for the VCP certification. The first of which is called “Install & configure” the second one being “deploy, secure & analyse”. Once the student has sat one of these courses then they must sit and successfully pass the VCP exam.

The benefits this can bring to your business if you attend VMware training in Scotland will be that you will now have the assurance that your staff have the knowledge they require to conquer business targets, profit from maximised productivity and efficiency, you can benchmark staff skills, with people and organisations working more efficiently you will reduce costs for your business.

You will also greatly improve staff retention, IT professionals value nothing more than a company that is willing to invest in them and develop their skill sets.

Also, individually the benefits are that you can become an expert VCP, add to your own skill set (very important factor when considering how volatile the IT market can be), gives career progression plus you will now have a recognised certified qualification.

Most importantly, for the individual, having this will give you differentiation – it will set you apart from the competitor.

How to Foil the Trojan.VUNDO

February 3rd, 2009
by John Eley

My PC suffered an attack recently that threatened to get out of hand. Would my credit card details and other sensitive information be stolen? Luckily I managed to fix the problem quickly.

The main symptom of the attack was the inability to use Windows Updates. Also the main antivirus software that I use (Norton antivirus) appeared to know that the trojan.VUNDO was present. It reported a fix, but almost immediately this was overturned and the problem reverted.

If the PC is cut off from security updates from the operating system provider (Microsoft) it will then become vulnerable to further more serious attacks. A criminal who knows you have been cut off from help from the software vendor support knows you are defenceless and that sooner or later he will be able to get to sensitive information, such as passwords and credit card details. Your computer could be a goldmine for the criminal.

It is essential that when security updates become disabled you fix this problem as soon as possible. Do not postpone this even if the computer is operating normally in other ways. If you choose to ignore it the results could be disastrous.

The problem with my pc also stopped me from manually downloading updates. This severely limits what you can do. You are totally cut off from help from your software vendor.

An independent way to fix the problem was required. I went to the Windows forums and discussion groups and used their search facilities to find a solution. I quickly found a report that was relevent. There was a software package recommended that could fix this problem. This was Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware 1.31 and it can be found at http://www.malwarebytes.org/. It fixed the problem beautifully and I strongly recomend it.

There are paid versions as well. Updates are brought out every few days and so they are clearly responding to new threats rapidly.

Malware, including viruses, trojans and worms, is under a state of continual development by criminals, whose objective is to basically rake off money from the unsuspecting Internet community. It is good to know comapnies like Malwarebytes are out there fighting them. They certainly knew how to undo the vundo attack I experienced!

The Personal Digital Assistant or PDA

January 26th, 2009
by Michael Erikson

In today’s world, it is not feasible to stay out of touch. There are appointments to keep and calls to make. There are emails that cannot go unanswered. You have to be able to edit and send documents while being on the go. Try a PDA as a way to help you stay in touch with the world. It has all of the properties of a computer, but is compact so you can carry it with you at all times.

There’s a whole lot of free pda software out there that you can download, e.g pda games and other freeware. What does PDA stand for? It stands for personal digital assistant, and is just what is sounds like. Some of the PDA’s even have GPS as a standard feature.

It was an evolution in the making. It started out as a basic device about the size of a calculator and had the most basic of functions. Later models added the feature of being able to see one line of text, yet have since evolved into personal hand held assistants that can email, browse the internet, organize your daily events and files and even play multimedia games.

Microsoft’s PDA operating system is called Windows mobile, and many hardware manufacturers wants to support the Pocket PC hardware specification to run windows mobile. The previous versions ran on Windows Mobile 5, but have since upgraded to Windows Mobile 6. Windows Mobile 5 was a great relief to PDA owners.

The Windows mobile Smartphone is a combination of the cell phone and the personal digital assistant. The PC software is there in the cell phone so it can be used as a personal computer when on the go. It was this evolution of the cell phone that had many companies altering their selling tactics. Most companies elected not to pursue the pocket PC, since Smartphones were becoming more of a mainstream choice.

Amazon Kindle vs. Sony Reader: The 2008 Review

January 25th, 2009
by Jack Andrew

It isn’t easy to decide between the Sony Reader and the Amazon Kindle! Both devices have their own ardent fan bases, and the best you can do is to evaluate the facts on both devices before you decide.

The price is the first aspect to consider when shopping for ebook readers. In this case the prices for both ebook readers aren’t very different. The Kindle is priced at $359 right now. The PRS700 is Sony’s Newest Model is priced at about $400, which is only about $40 more. With either model, you’re going to pay, but the Kindle is the best buy in terms of price.

Another crucial factor is the amount of content available for both readers. In this aspect, the Amazon Kindle, which has more than 190,000 books available online at the point of writing as well as an impressive collection of newspapers, blogs and magazines, is clearly the superior choice. In comparison, the Sony device has only 60,000 titles although the number is expected to increase to 100,000 by early 2009. Another weak point of the Sony device is that it does not offer the ability to download newspapers, magazines or blogs from the online store.

The next issue that may be of concern is the visual aspects of each. Which one provides a better visual experience when reading or when displaying information to others? Because both readers make use of the e-ink technology, the experience is similar to that of reading from regular paper. You feel like you are reading from the pages of a traditional book and you are less likely to suffer from eyestrain.

If you consider the looks of the devices, the Sony Reader definitely looks better. The biggest complaint against the Kindle is its ugly looks-it looks as if it was designed in the late 90s. In contrast, the Sony Reader 700 has a slick, iPod-like look that would be expected for device that debuted in 2008.

While we are on the topic of design, the Sony Reader features a touch screen display which the Kindle lacks. Unfortunately, the touch screen feature seems to detract from the quality of the Sony Reader’s display. Because the touch screen layer was superimposed on top of the e-ink screen layer, the contrast and “real book” feel are lacking on the Sony as opposed to the Kindle. In a side-by-side comparison of the two, you would probably notice better contrast and sharpness on the Kindle.

Both of these ebook readers allow you to make the font size of the book you are reading bigger. This is a really great thing if you have a hard time reading print that is too small. One slight advantage that the Sony Reader 700 has over the Amazon Kindle in terms of readability is the LED backlight for reading in low-light environments. On the surface this sounds great-no more need for a clip-on light but not so fast. Reviews of the Sony Reader have reported that the light does a poor job of lighting the screen and in some cases makes it harder to read because it affects the contrast and visibility of the text.

Since no one wants to carry around a big, bulky device, you’ll also be pleased to know that both units only weigh in at about 10 ounces. That is about the weight of some paperbacks! This makes them easy to travel with and easy to carry while reading. Still, the Sony reader is a little bit smaller than the Kindle, which can be good and bad depending on how you look at it.

One of the more important features for some users is the ease of getting the downloaded content onto your ebook reader. The Kindle blows the Sony Reader out of the water in this respect. The Sony requires you to download the file to the computer then use a USB cable to transfer files to you reader before you can acess them. The Kindle handles the task by itself thanks to the free wireless capabilities. Its as easy as connecting to the store, finding the content you would like, click a few buttons, and then enjoy your reading. The Kindle definitely outshines the Sony Reader in this category.

Storage space is something else that you really need to consider. Both readers offer plenty of storage space for the average user with the ability to store over 200 books. If you tend to buy a lot of books or need to reference many different ones you might want to consider the Sony Reader. It holds more books than the Kindle and it also supports larger external memory cards giving it far more storage capacity than the Kindle.

And finally and most importantly, it is within your great interest to take responsibility for managing the eBook formats you choose to utilize on each device. Although both tools have been designed to work with their own proprietary formats, only the Amazon reader also interfaces with the highly preferred MOBI file format. So if you have MOBI files, your choice of readers is a no-brainer.

Now, the two best ebook readers on the market have been compared. Everybody has different tastes and needs, so when you shop around, be sure to consider all the features. The Amazon Kindle has the capability to become wireless, and is one of the best readers due to the wide variety of content available for it.
